Bonjour et Bienvenue to the French Language Institute of Boulder
We Are Excited to Be Your Guides on Your French Learning Journey!
Here Is What Sets Our Method Apart:
We specialize in teaching French, and we love what we do! With over 15 years of experience teaching French language and culture in higher education—and helping
learners of all levels—we know that anyone can succeed with the right guidance and commitment. Our goal is simple: to give you the structure, expertise, and support you need to grow into a confident French speaker. We've taken care of the planning, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn. We'll handle the rest.
Small Group Size Classes: Our classes are limited to just 12 students. Smaller classes mean more opportunities to participate, more personalized feedback, and more meaningful interactions with your instructor and classmates.
Fun and Engaging Lessons: Learning French should be enjoyable! Our interactive lessons go beyond the textbook with games, group activities, real-life conversations, and authentic cultural content. From French films and food to customs and traditions, every class is designed to keep you engaged while building practical language skills in a fun, meaningful way.
Practical Conversational Skills: Practice is the key to fluency—and we make it fun. Through interactive conversations, role-plays, and real-life activities, you'll build the confidence to communicate naturally in French. Whether you're traveling, connecting with others, or navigating everyday situations, you'll develop practical skills you can use from day one.
Experienced and Supportive Instructors & Easy-to-Follow Curriculum: Learning French doesn't have to be complicated—we're here to guide you every step of the way. Our expertise and thoughtfully designed curriculum make learning clear, practical, and enjoyable. Each lesson builds naturally on the last, helping you gain confidence, stay motivated, and start using French in real-life situations from day one.
Cultural Insights: Language and culture go hand in hand. That's why our lessons bring French to life through food, film, music, art, literature, traditions, current events, and everyday experiences. As you explore the richness of the French-speaking world, you'll deepen your understanding of the culture while gaining the confidence to communicate naturally in real-life situations.
*Please note that the courses we offer are non-credit classes designed for personal enrichment, skill development, or professional growth rather than for academic credit.
Join us and make your journey to French fluency an exciting, rewarding, and enjoyable experience!
Velina Dinkova is the founder, director, and lead instructor of the French Language Institute of Boulder LLC.
She holds a PhD in French Language and Literature from the University of Colorado Boulder, an MA in French, and a BA in Psychology from Bowling Green State University. She has been teaching French for fifteen years, drawing on a strong foundation in higher education and extensive experience working with learners of all ages and backgrounds. She has also lived in France—particularly in the historic city of Tours. Her deep connection to the French language and culture continues to inspire both her teaching practice and her life.
Velina brings to her teaching a strong academic background combined with a genuine love of language as a living, human experience. For her, language learning is not only intellectually rewarding—it’s also empowering, deeply satisfying, and a powerful way to connect across borders. It opens your perspective, reshapes the way you see the world, and brings people together—not just through words, but through the exploration of values, customs, and ways of thinking.
Outside the classroom, Velina enjoys spending time with her family and friends, gardening, riding her bicycle, rock climbing, hiking, reading, weaving, and appreciating art.
