*Week 1: French Fundations: A Fun Introduction to French (ages 5–13)
M-F: July 6, 2026-July 10, 2026: 9:00am-12:00pm
In this one-week French Summer Camp, children ages 5–13 will learn the French alphabet and its sounds, count and use basic numbers, practice everyday greetings, and speak simple, useful phrases from the very first day. Through games, songs, movement, and creative activities, campers will introduce themselves, say their age, ask and answer simple questions, and grow comfortable hearing and speaking French in a fun, supportive environment. By the end of the week, children leave with real language skills, confidence, and excitement to continue their French journey.
Language goals: By the end of the week, campers will be able to recognize and pronounce the French alphabet, count and use basic numbers, greet others appropriately, and use simple everyday phrases. Children will confidently introduce themselves, say their age, ask and answer basic questions, and respond naturally to common expressions, building a strong foundation in listening and speaking French.
Sample activities include: Each day is filled with hands-on, high-energy activities that make French come alive. Campers learn the French alphabet and sounds through songs, rhythms, and call-and-response chants, then play letter scavenger hunts and spelling games using movement. Numbers come to life as children count, clap, jump, and dance to music, play number bingo, and take part in upbeat team challenges. Through music-based role-play, puppets, and playful skits, campers practice greetings, ask Ça va ?, introduce themselves (Je m’appelle…), and say their age. Story time with visuals and props helps children understand spoken French, while sing-alongs, simple percussion instruments, and movement games reinforce pronunciation and listening skills. Creative projects—such as making a mini French passport or a “Bonjour” poster—help anchor new words, and short conversation games build confidence in a joyful, supportive environment where language learning feels like play.
