French Language Learning Summer Camps Details
Ages: For children 6-10 years of age
Price: $310 per week (materials included)
When: June 2-July 25, 2025, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-12:00pm
*Please note: No Classes/Camps the week of June 30-July 4 & no camp/classes on June 19th (prorated week)
Location: Mesa Elementary School in Boulder, CO at 1575 Lehigh Street, Boulder, CO 80305 MAP
Summer Camps Hours: All camps will run 9:00am-12:00pm (except for the week of June 30-July 4, 2025 when no classes will be held: also, no classes/camp on June 19, 2025)
Cancellation and Refund Policy:
1. Camps must be paid in full prior to the start of the first class.
2. The French Language Institute of Boulder will only issue *refunds 1) if cancellation/refund requests are made within 48 hours of payment and 2) before May 18, 2025. Both conditions must be met for a refund to be issued. *There is a $75 administration fee charged on all refunds.
What To Bring:
*Pack a snack and a water bottle each day.
*Please note that we require parents to pack a nut-free snack for their children.
Weekly Themes and General Learning Objectives
*Week 1: Castles, Fairies & Dragons (6-10 years old)
M-F: 06/02/25-06/06/25, 9:00am-12:00pm; $310 (materials included)
Step into a magical world of enchanted châteaux, winged dragons, and mysterious forest fairies—all while learning French! This week, young adventurers will build their vocabulary through games, songs, and daily crafts inspired by classic fairy tales and medieval legends. Each day combines playful language learning with movement, music, storytelling, and art to help students absorb French naturally and joyfully.

Language goals: Build vocabulary related to magical characters, colors, shapes, and actions; Practice speaking in short, structured sentences; Strengthen listening and comprehension through songs, stories, and games;
Sample activities include: Fairy wings and wands: Craft sparkling wings and decorate your own magic wand, then act out spells in French ~ Create your own château! ~ Dragon egg hunt ~ Puppet theater: Make character puppets and perform your own mini-play in French! ~ Heraldry & crests: Learn about medieval symbols and paint your family blason (coat of arms) ~ French fairy tale songs ~ Interactive story time: Discover French-language fairy tales with acting, drawing, and retelling.
This camp encourages creativity, imagination, and French language learning through rich storytelling and hands-on fun. A perfect start to a magical summer!
*Week 2: Little Painters in Paris (6-10 years old)
M-F: 06/09/25-06/13/25, 9:00am-12:00pm; $310 (materials included)
This week, campers become petits artistes as we travel—imaginatively—through the colorful streets of Paris! Children will discover French art, colors, and Parisian landmarks while expressing themselves through painting, collage, and playful French immersion. Through daily art projects and language games, children will learn to describe colors, shapes, tools, emotions, and works of art—all while building speaking and listening skills in French.

Language goals: Identify and use color names and basic shapes in French; Name common art tools (paintbrush, paper, canvas, etc.); Use simple phrases to describe their artwork and emotions; Talk about Paris landmarks and artists using basic vocabulary; Follow simple instructions in French during art-making and activities
Sample activities include: Painting like Monet: Watercolor gardens and bridges ~ “Musée en papier” (paper museum): Create and curate their own mini gallery ~Sketching the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame ~ Color mixing experiments with French vocabulary ~ Collage in the style of Matisse (les formes!) ~ Musical painting to French songs (paint to rhythm and feeling) ~ French storybooks about Parisian artists and museum adventures
*Week 3: Magical Creatures of French Tales (6-10 years old)

Step into the world of wolves, unicorns, and sorciers! This whimsical week immerses children in the magical creatures of classic and lesser-known French fairy tales. From enchanted forests to mysterious castles, campers will explore folklore through storytelling, drama, art, and movement—entirely en français. As they bring characters to life with puppets, props, and costumes, children will naturally absorb new vocabulary and expressions while building confidence and creativity.

Learning goals: Name and describe magical creatures in French; Use adjectives to describe characters; Retell simple versions of traditional tales using short phrases; Follow story-related instructions and act out scenes in French; Express basic emotions, settings, and actions tied to stories
Sample activities include: Create magical creature masks and puppets ~ Listen to and act out classic French folktales ~Design your own creature and write a mini-storybook about it in French ~ Enchanted forest obstacle course with action verbs ~ Shadow puppet show featuring wizards, witches, and dragons ~ Group mural: Paint a fairy tale forest with magical beings ~ Songs, movement games, and daily story time.
*Week 4: Little Playmakers: Create, Act & Shine on Stage (6-10 years old)
M-F: 06/23/25-06/27/25, 9:00am-12:00pm; $310 (materials included)
This high-energy week invites campers to become storytellers, costume designers, and performers—all en français! Through theater games, short skits, and character play, children will explore French vocabulary while learning how to express themselves on stage. Learners will co-create a simple final performance to share with family and friends, incorporating their own dialogue, songs, and handmade props. Along the way, they'll build confidence, cooperation skills, and joy in speaking French through play.

Sample activities include: Theater warm-ups and movement games (Simon says in French, mirroring, freeze frame) ~ Mask-making and costume crafts for original characters ~ Skit writing and storytelling using visuals and puppets ~ Role play classic scenes (e.g. royal court, enchanted forest, silly market) ~ Create tickets, programs, and signs in French for the final show ~ Rehearsal games to learn cues and build stage confidence ~ Songs and rhythm games with character voices
*Week 5 : Storybook Adventures (6-10 years old)

Step into the world of French storybooks! This week, campers will immerse themselves in beloved French tales while becoming authors, illustrators, and actors. Each day, they’ll explore a different type of story—fairy tales, fables, adventures, and more—through creative art, dramatic play, and language activities. Children will use their imagination to create original stories, develop characters, and bring scenes to life. By the end of the week, they will have their very own storybooks and an exciting group performance to showcase their hard work. Join us for a week filled with magic, creativity, and language learning!

*Week 6 : Under the Stars: Space & Sky Explorers (6-10 years old)
M-F: 07/14/25-07/18/25, 9:00am-12:00pm; $310 (materials included)
This week, young astronauts will embark on an intergalactic adventure to explore the stars, planets, and everything in-between. Through space-themed activities, scientific experiments, and hands-on arts and crafts, campers will learn all about the wonders of space, from the moon to the stars, planets, and constellations. Children will practice French while learning scientific vocabulary related to space, weather, and the solar system. By the end of the week, they will have created their own space-themed artwork, built models of the solar system, and participated in a fun "space mission" performance.

*Week 7: Little Writers: Create Your Own Book in French! (6-10 years old)

Step into the world of storytelling! This week, learners become real authors and illustrators as they write, illustrate, and bind their own original French picture books. Through games, story mapping, vocabulary-building, and daily inspiration from French children’s literature, kids will gain confidence using French in both oral and written forms—while expressing their own unique voice and creativity in simple French terms.
