*Week 7: Little Writers: Create Your Own Book in French! (6-11 years old)

M-F: 07/21/25-07/25/25, 9:00am-12:00pm

Step into the world of storytelling! This week, learners become real authors and illustrators as they write, illustrate, and bind their own original French picture books. Through games, story mapping, vocabulary-building, and daily inspiration from French children’s literature, kids will gain confidence using French in both oral and written forms—while expressing their own unique voice and creativity in simple French terms.

Language goals: Use key French vocabulary to describe characters, actions, settings, and emotions; Apply common sentence starters and phrases used in children’s storytelling; Construct simple and coherent sentences in French; Understand story structure: beginning, middle, and end; Practice reading their own and others’ stories aloud with pronunciation support; Engage in group writing games, creative brainstorming, and peer storytelling

Sample activities include: Explore famous French-language storybooks and discuss structure and style ~ Create story maps, character sketches, and settings before writing ~ Play word-building and sentence-creation games in French ~ Daily mini-writing prompts and group storytelling rounds ~ Illustrate and bind each camper’s original storybook ~ Share stories aloud in a celebratory mini "auteurs francophones" showcase
