Step into the world of wolves, unicorns, and sorciers! This whimsical week immerses children in the magical creatures of classic and lesser-known French fairy tales. From enchanted forests to mysterious castles, campers will explore folklore through storytelling, drama, art, and movement — in French . As they bring characters to life with puppets, props, and costumes, children will naturally absorb new vocabulary and expressions while building confidence and creativity.
Learning goals: Name and describe magical creatures in French; Use adjectives to describe characters; Retell simple versions of traditional tales using short phrases; Follow story-related instructions and act out scenes in French; Express basic emotions, settings, and actions tied to stories
Sample activities include: Create magical creature masks and puppets ~ Listen to and act out classic French folktales ~Design your own creature and write a mini-storybook about it in French ~ Enchanted forest obstacle course with action verbs ~ Shadow puppet show featuring wizards, witches, and dragons ~ Group mural: Paint a fairy tale forest with magical beings ~ Songs, movement games, and daily story time.
*Logistics:
-Ages: For children 6-10 years of age
-When: M-F: 06/16/25-06/20/25, 9:00am-12:00pm; *No classes/camp on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
-Location: Mesa Elementary School at 1575 Lehigh Street, Boulder, CO 80305 MAP
-Cancellation and Refund Policy:
1. Camps must be paid in full prior to the start of the first class.
2. The French Language Institute of Boulder will only issue *refunds 1) if cancellation/refund requests are made within 48 hours of payment and 2) before May 18, 2025. Both conditions must be met for a refund to be issued. *There is a $75 administration fee charged on all refunds.
-What To Bring:
*Pack a snack and a water bottle each day.
*Please note that we require parents to pack a nut-free snack for their
children.
